2015-2016 Science Museum Trip (UPDATE 1)

2016 4th Grade Science Museum Update

3/21/16

This year’s overnight trip will be held on May 12th and 13th (scroll down further for additional info).

“To Do” Items:

  1. Families of 4th graders, please join/use this Remind Class for another form of communication.
  2. Meetings Dates to be set shortly for families and chaperones.  Please use this quick poll to share the best time for you to meet.  Family meeting is optional.  Chaperone meeting is not.

As we go along we will send home more print information.  However, the “To Do” item for “Remind” will help us setup at least one tool that is more timely for communication and something we will also use during the actual trip.

Sincerely,

Sean Martinson

2015-2016 Science Museum Trip (Initial Information)

A version of this letter will go home in Tuesday Folders on Tuesday 1/19/16

January 18, 2016

Dear 4th Grade Families,

For the last three years Murphy Elementary School has brought our 4th grade students on an overnight trip to The Science Museum of Minnesota in St. Paul.   On this trip we have also made stops at other points of interest (the Como Park Zoo, Minnesota State Capital, and recently Edinborough Park).  Our students had full days of learning and had a blast!  We are happy to announce that we will be offering this same over night trip to this year’s 4th grade students!  We’re planning  this year’s overnight trip for May 12th and 13th.  We will spend the night at the Science Museum of Minnesota and also tentatively plan to stop at Edinborough Park and the Como Park Zoo (The Minnesota State Capitol is still under construction through 2017).

As we get closer to May, we will be sending out more information. With that said,  we did want to get some details out to help you plan accordingly.

  • We will need chaperones for this trip.  Each chaperone will be asked to pay $50 to help cover their portion of the trip.  Space will be limited to how many seats we have on the buses.  Chaperones will be required to fill out a Chaperone Packet and ISD 318 Volunteer Background Check Packet (these are available in the main office and at the bottom of this post).  If you are interested in chaperoning, contact Mr. Martinson directly.  We may not be able to take all those that would like to chaperone.

  • The field trip cost per student for this trip is approximately $100.  We have been able to gather some funds to help defer these costs.  We are asking that each student pay $30 to go on this trip.  Payments can be made a little at a time or in full.  Please make checks payable to Murphy School PTC.  It’s a small price to pay for a huge experience they will remember for years to come.  Our hope is that this will not create a hardship for any of our students.  If this cost creates a hardship for your family, please contact Mr. Martinson directly and we will figure something out.

Thanks for your time and help in making this trip possible.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Rachel Bruemmer ~ Mr. Bryan Fideldy ~ Mr. Sean Martinson cell: 218-259-3129
